- Merino -100% superwash merino. Can be machine washed gentle with cool water, but we still recommend hand washing because of the pom pom. Lay flat to dry. Do not machine dry – may felt and shrink.
- Alpaca – 100% super baby alpaca. Warmer and softer than Merino, although Merino is still pretty darn soft and warm. Hand wash and lay flat to dry. Never by machine. May felt and shrink. Most luxurious of these 3 fibers.
- Cotton – 100% cotton. Can be machine washed and in most cases machine dried. Soft but does not offer the warmth of alpaca or merino. Good for warmer months of the year. Easiest care of the 3.
CHECK CARE LABEL THAT COMES WITH HAT FOR DEFINITIVE INSTRUCTIONS. We suggest using Eucalan natural fiber wash for all our washable items on this site. Eucalan comes in several scents and also unscented and does not need to be rinsed out, saving you a step. Click here for more info.
Why natural fiber versus acrylic? Natural fiber breathes, allowing moisture to escape, keeping the skin underneath warm, dry and comfortable. Most natural fiber yarns are softer and more pliable than acrylic yarns. And they are…well…natural.
